3 Handmade Christmas Pop Up Card Ideas

In a previous blog post, I mentioned how much I enjoy making pop-up cards, and that’s especially true around the holidays. Pop-up cards aren’t just unique-shaped greeting cards; they’re also special decorations that recipients can proudly display on their shelves. And trust me - everyone who sees them will be amazed!

Knitted sweaters, hats, scarves, and a warm cup of cocoa with marshmallows all bring that cozy feeling to the Christmas season. That’s why I used these clear stamp motifs to create this Christmas pop-up card - complete with a festive red color, of course! The card’s base was made using a die cut, while the covers were crafted with a dotted embossing folder and enhanced with a white gel pen to make the dots stand out. I stamped winter motifs, colored them with fine-tip gel pens, and carefully cut them out by hand. The snowflakes were crafted with die-cuts, adding a frosty touch. To complete the cozy Christmas vibe, I stamped the "You warm my heart" sentiment on the scarf.

For this and all my other pop-up cards, I used transparent sheets and double-sided tape to attach the motifs to the card base securely. These materials help give each design that eye-catching, layered look!

The second card I made uses the same base design but features different stamped motifs, including Christmas gifts, stockings, and a festive holiday cake. I went with classic red and green as the main colors, and added a vintage, unwrapped banner decorated with my own handwritten "Happy Holidays!" for a charming touch.

If you have a friend or family member who loves knitting, this card would be a wonderful project to make for them! I created this one for a friend who knits hats and sweaters, using her brand colors and including the name of her small business to make it even more special. To enhance the "knitting feel," I used an embossing folder with a knitted motif for the card covers. I should mention that she was truly touched by my gesture, and this card now has a special place on her shelf!
