3 Super Easy Handmade Fall Cards to Try Today

8/2/2025

I think I can already feel that crispness in the air, even though it's just the beginning of August... I can already smell fall sneaking in. Maybe it's just wishful thinking—but it’s definitely enough to get me inspired for cozy, autumn-themed card making!

So today, I’m sharing three easy handmade fall cards that I made using my own printable sentiments and patterns. These cards are beginner-friendly, fun to make, and don’t require any fancy tools—just your creativity and some scissors and glue.

Card 1: Printable Pattern as a Background

This first card started with one of my printable background patterns—full of orange leaves and autumn vibes. I love how vibrant it is, so I wanted something equally bold to pair with it. That’s when I remembered my stash of magazine cutouts. I dug through my box and found these large green butterflies, which surprisingly popped perfectly against the warm tones of the background. You can watch a short video about making this card here.

I glued the butterflies onto cardstock to make them sturdier and then added them to the background. For the sentiment, I used one of my printable sheets, picked the word "Celebrate," and attached it with foam tape to give it a bit of dimension.

Card 2: Printable Sentiment Takes the Spotlight

This time, I started with a cute raccoon-themed patterned paper, glued it onto a brown piece of cardstock, and added one of my printable sentiments"Hugs." I used foam tape again to lift the sentiment a little and give the card more depth.

For an extra playful touch, I found tiny handmade polymer clay bees in my craft drawer and added them on and around the sentiment. They really brought the design to life and made the sentiment feel more special.

Card 3: Printable Sticker as Card Sentiment

This is a great idea if you want to make a quick card that still feels special. The sentiment does all the work! I used printable sheet of fall stickers but printed it on a card stock to become a card sentiment. These fall quotes are designed with little leaves, acorns, and warm tones, so they already has that cozy fall feeling all on its own.

I kept the background simple by choosing a striped kraft paper—it adds texture but doesn’t distract from the sentiment. The bold lettering and illustrated details make it the perfect focal point.

To put it all together, I glued the background to a brown card base and used foam tape to raise the sentiment just a bit. That way, it stands out and adds a bit of dimension.

This is a great reminder that your card’s message can sometimes be the focal point. Especially when it already comes with cute illustrations!

What I love most about fall card making is how it blends coziness, creativity, and a bit of storytelling. With just a few printed elements, some paper, and your imagination, you can create something heartfelt—something that’ll make someone smile.

If you’re just starting out with card making, don’t worry about having all the tools. Printables like these are a great way to begin. You don’t need die cuts, stamps, or even special ink pads. Just print, cut, and glue. Really—that’s it.
