Spring Greeting Card Ideas: 3 Handmade Floral Cards with Printable Sentiments
Spring always brings that fresh feeling of new beginnings—longer days, soft colors, and of course… blooming flowers everywhere. And for us who love paper crafting, it’s the perfect time to turn that inspiration into handmade spring cards.
In this post, I’m sharing 3 easy spring greeting card ideas you can recreate, whether you’re just starting out or looking for fresh card making inspiration. I designed each card using my printable sentiments, combined with simple techniques—so you don’t need a lot of tools to get beautiful results. I don’t have a cardstock printer, so I printed these sentiments on regular copy paper. If you’re like me, make sure to read this blog post for a simple workaround.

Beginner-Friendly Floral Card (Printables Only)
This card is perfect if you’re looking for easy cards to make with minimal supplies and tools. It's also a great example of how card making printables can simplify the process while still giving you a beautiful result. Ideal for card making beginners!
What I used:
white card base
blue patterned background (from my Cute Girl printable card making kit)
flowers (from my Cute Girl printable card making kit)
pink card stock
printable sentiment (from my printable Spring Sentiments collection)
scissors
paper glue
double-sided foam tape
I cut everything using scissors—no machines involved, which makes this a great beginner's card making project. To make the sentiment stand out, I layered it on a soft pink cardstock. That small detail adds contrast and helps it “pop” against the blue background. I love how these flowers stand out on this background!

Variation idea: Try clustering the flowers in one corner to create a soft triangle shape, and place the sentiment in the center so it slightly overlaps some of the flowers.
Floral Card with Die Cuts & Printable Sentiments
If you enjoy layering and texture, this is a lovely way to elevate your handmade spring cards. This card seems like a more experienced card making project simply by combining printables with die cutting. Even though this color leans more toward fall, I wanted to try something different—and it turned out to be such a warm and cheerful spring card with floral motifs and bloom-themed sentiment.
What I used:
dusty orange card base
floral dies + frame die
printable sentiment (from my printable Spring Sentiments collection)
gems
Sizzix Big Shot
craft knife
scissors
paper glue
double-sided foam tape
I die-cut the flowers and the frame, then matched the card base color with the flower color in the sentiment. That color coordination really ties everything together. To finish it off, I added an orange gem to each flower for a subtle sparkle—just enough to make the flowers stand out without overwhelming the design.

Variation idea: You can add a white layer on the card base and make the frame match the base color. That extra layer brings more depth and still gives the elegant look.

Simple Floral Card with Fussy Cutting Sentiment
This is a great option if you like to make gift tags that look like DIY floral cards with a relaxed, handmade feel. The idea for this project was to make a small, simple card (3 x 5 inches) but still make it look adorable using just a few elements.
What I used:
white card base
pastel patterned paper
printable sentiment (from my printable Spring Sentiments collection)
watercolor paper for wavy layer
Sizzix Big Shot (not a must-have)
scissors
paper glue
double-sided foam tape
Here I used fussy cutting to cut around the sentiment and flower shape more closely. It gives a softer, more organic look compared to straight cuts.
For the decorative edge, I used a die—but you can easily:
use craft scissors, or
draw a wavy line with pencil and cut it by hand

Variation idea: Consider embossing the white background or adding a few enamel dots or half-pearls. Small details like these can instantly make the card feel more lively and complete.
Helpful Card Making Tips (From My Process)
While making these cards, I picked up a few tips related to cutting detailed elements that can help your beginner's card making easier.
Die cutting tips
For delicate designs (like thin frames), run your die through the machine twice for a cleaner cut
If some parts don’t cut fully, use a precision craft knife to gently finish the edges
Fussy Cutting Tips for Sentiments
Start with scissors for the main shape
Then refine edges (especially around letters) using a craft knife
This helps achieve a more polished look
Cutting Flowers with Scissors (The Right Way)
Spring cards often include flowers, so this is a great skill to practice.
When cutting petals, go from the top of the petal down toward the center
First cut one side (for example, moving slightly to the right)
Then cut the other side (moving to the left)
Avoid going back and forth or “chopping” with scissors
This keeps the edges smooth and prevents those small crease marks or rough edges that can show on delicate petals.

These spring greeting card ideas show that you don’t need complicated tools to create something beautiful. They are easy to recreate and there’s always a way to adapt the process to your own crafting style.
